1833: James Blackburn was transported to Van Dieman’s Land.
1841: Pardoned. Commenced work as an architect. Designed the New Town Congregational Church.
1842: Foundation stone for church laid by Henry Hopkins.
1845: Church opens.
1858: Gallery added due to popularity of church.
1898: Sunday School Hall added.
1918: Pipe organ installed.
1965: Congregationalists and Presbyterians combine to worship in the church.
2000: Church closed.
