1882: Rubbish dump.
1921: Football stadium built.
1922: First football match played between Lefroy and New Town. Lefroy won.
1922: North Hobart Oval was headquarters of AFL in Tasmania. Main football round in Tasmania.
The ground hosted 74 Tasmanian Football League Grand Finals until 1999. 
North Hobart Oval has hosted three Australian National Football Carnivals. 1924,1947 and 1966.
1947: The ground was a mud bath.  A dog ran onto the ground and buried a saveloy in the mud in the centre of the ground.
1952: A VFL match took place.  Fitzroy beat Melbourne.
1960: Betty Cuthbert set a new world record for the 220-yard sprint on 7 March.
1965: Ron Clarke beat Vladimir Kuts’s (USSR) 5000m record on 16 January.
1959: Billy Graham set an all-time attendance record for the ground with a crowd in excess of 25,000.
Today: The ground hosts National Rugby League and Soccer matches. Local AFL and Soccer clubs train and play there.
