Cornelian Bay Walk
Cornelian Bay: Car park. Public toilets. Café. Beautiful playground. Grass to lie on. A lounge on the grass will tell you where the tide is and give you good views of the boathouses.
Cross the sports fields.
There is an underpass under the Brooker Highway. About in the middle of the sports fields. Hidden by trees.
Find and go through the underpass under the Brooker Highway. There is a path going left or right. Go left.
Follow the path until you reach a road. Called Bells Street.
Walk down Bell Street
On your right: Hockey courts.
On your left: The bike track and then New Town Station Nursery and café.
Intersection with Bay Road. Turn right down Bay Road. After a few hundred metres is Runnymede. Worth a visit if it open.
Exit Runnymede and turn right down Bay Road. You will come to a few sports fields.
Risdon Road is the busy main road. Some very old private and historic homes.
Turn right at Risdon Road and head towards the congested Brooker Highway. Cross at the lights.
Marine Esplanade.
On your left is New Town Rivulet. Contains active fauna.
On your right is Rugby Park then the rowing club.
Marine Esplanade ends in a small relaxing picnic area. Benches, grass and a public BBQ.
Return down Marine Esplanade. Before the Brooker Highway is a small road called Queens Walk.
Queens Walk meanders towards Cornelian Bay.
On your right you will pass high rise apartments called Stainforth Court.
On your left Southern Cemeteries. You can enter and browse.
Past the cemetery you come to scenic stroll by the river towards the point. The stroll is so scenic and enjoyable you get to share it with dogs. A dog walking area. The track is an out and back track which returns you to Cornelian Bay. You can avoid the track and rock hop along the river bank.
Finish back at Cornelian Bay.
